have a running problem on my 1989 60hp vro, started out as intermitant on and of power surges at 3/4 throttle and eventialy went when fuel bulb pressed.then later got so bad that when i had throttle wide open in could only just keep engine running, untill it died and would not restart.left for half an hour removed spark plugs found to be wet, dried plugs and engine started and ran ok when reved up tied to dock.then ran for a few minutes and same happened.WOT could only just keep motor running and then stalled.seems to be a fuel thing!with the engine off and the primer is pressed it goes and stays hard, but it started to go soft when running .the engine is running on premix and oil pipe to pump is blanked off, could the fuel pump be weak or leaking through to the pulse pipe and making it run to rich?

I would guess coils or power pack breaking down under heat. You can try a hair dryier while on muffs and see if it can be made to die out.

Run spark test they should jump 7/16 air gap.

If plugs are wet I would think you are geting plenty of gas. Just not fire.

Good Luck!

Hello Mark.
The problem, can be a bad temp. switch.
Try to disconnect the TAN-wirer to the temp.switch.
Keep a good look at the motor, when you are doing it, becose there is no temp.protection on then.
I do also have a Evinrude 60 HP, but from 1990. And when this motor are going in S.L.O.W funktion, with full throtle, then it is doing, as yours. But I can keep it going, if I put it on 1/3 throtle when the S.L.O.W funktion is on.
