Thanks Gun Dog, Looks just like the anodes on my 88SPL.

That's completely whacked! I guess I will be ordering 3 of them because there are none on the transom. Thank you again everyone for the help. Im the one doing all the work and the old lady is excited about getting the boat in the water.

i had same problem and a very knowledeable friend told me to drain foot oil,fill foot up with marvel mystery oil and leave it for several days ,then begin working your shifter on the engine,in just a few days under a week she is shifting as smotth as ever.
ps. don't for get to drop mystery oil and put in new foot oil lol .happy sailing hope it works for ya

Well- i hired this guy to get my lower unit off- he did it, and then poked around and said that everything looked fine! He put it all back together and everything works great- for a mere $212.50!! If that darn bolt hadn't snapped, I would have been able to do it all myself! Oh well- maybe I should have tried the "marvel mystery oil!" Live and learn, live and learn.

Oh and "dahoopd"- it has been my Pleasure and I hope everything works out for you- and I hope your little lady appreciates all your hard work...
