I am having problems with my VRO and it did run before I did this. It was just leaking fuel and loosing fuel pressure. I do premix my fuel. Oil tank has been removed. I was losing prime in my bulb. Checked the bulb and all hoses. Everything checked out ok. Took cowling off and tried priming bulb and noticed the VRO fuel pump was leaking from bottom of housing due to a crack in housing. The old pump had all of the original wiring harness still intact. Bought a pump without the harness and installed. Motor will not start now. Cannon plug is unplugged.
I was wondering if the cannon plug being unplugged, is it leaving an open circuit through the ignition system preventing it from starting? If I need to close a circuit, which ones? It is a 4 wire harness. Purple, gray, tan and black wires. Tan goes to cylinders for temp, gray and purple go to a terminal block and it appears black goes to primer solenoid. Any advice, theories and/or knowledge is greatly appreciated.

Be more specific than "bought a pump without the harness and installed". Give us an exact link to what was bought/sourced as the fuel pump. There are a lot of cheap crappy Chinese made marine parts that one would want to avoid like the plague.

Then tell us which hoses you hooked up to where on the fuel pump.

If it has 3 hose barbs instead of the two hose barbs that bolts to the powerhead directly, I would suspect you put the hoses on wrong. I would say this is more likely to happen.

The elegant / simple thing to do is to mount a 2 nipple pump.----This pump mounts directly over the pulse port on the intake manifold.----Leaving the VRO unplugged has no effect on starting.

I’m not sure of the link, I would have to research it but it was from Amazon. Took about a week to get here from a marine company in NY. Hoses are on correctly. I double checked this. It’s spaying fuel into cylinders. Did a spark test on it. It sparked a few times but didn’t notice it any more than a few times. It was not continuous in other words as far as I could tell. There is a small micro mechanical relay of some sort in the old pump with the wiring. I’ll drop pic in thread.

The VRO pump runs off PRESSURE pulses from the crankcase.----The wiring is just for the " no oil " alarm.----If you premix in your tank there is no need for this electronic module.----Best option is per post #3

Just wanted to let everyone know the outcome. Took new VRO off and inspected all of the fuel lines and everything again. Then I noticed when I was moving stuff around a vacuum line move way more than it should. It had broken off from vacuum port under carburetor. Replaced line and it fired right up. Thanks guys for all the input!
