1989 mercruiser 4.3

When at wide open throttle its almost like I'm running out of gas actually anything above 3000 rpms boat slows down then speeds up. I have changed the exturnal water seperator cleaned the screen in the carb. The thing runs great at any rpms beloow 3000. Any help would be great

I would check for cracked fuel hoses. The cracks will suck in air under load. A sign of this is smelling fuel when the boat sits.

sounds like a fuel issue. Maybe one of the jets in the carb is clogged. Have you ever had the carbs cleaned ? A clogged carb will cause exactly what you are starting. Slow down, speed up, slow down, cut out, etc.

Ayuh,.... 'n the Fuel Pump,...

'n the Anti-siphon valve,...

'n the tank's vent,...

What did you find in the fuel filter, 'n fuel screen,..??
