Hi Everyone,

I have a 1989 Malibu 162 with a 1989 Mercury 100HP outboard. The other day I dropped the boat in the water and was taking my son out fishing. Boat seemed a little harder to start than normal but I thought nothing of it because the boat had not been out if a couple months. So, finally we get going and everything is normal and we are cruising at about 35mph for a mile or so and the all of a sudden I begin to lose power until she shuts right down. I turn the key off and try to start it again and it is a little trouble but get her going again and it does the same thing. So again, I get is started again and pop her into gear and we head back to the dock very slowly. Then it wants to stall at this speed as well. Then I realize that motor doesnt seem to be getting enough fuel, so I pump the prime ball as we are moving and you can feel it move forward faster as I pump it. We are able to get back to the dock doing this.

Anyone know where I should start? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Time to service your fuel pump.If you have your Mercury Service Manual its an easy job.Check all fuel lines for blockages, cracks or loose connections.
