1989 Regal Commodore 280 10K?

Took me awhile to get the pics due to bad weather here. I'm thinking if the survey goes well, including the sea trial, I can't go wrong with this boat and trailer. What do you think?

Just about all of them... and the Kohler Gen carb is in a box to be rebuilt.

I have a 1988 280 Regal---bought it new--great boat---same boat---that one looks real rough---salt water I assume---you can buy nice clean freshwater boats just like that all over here for 10K----I'd look a little farther---Steve

After giving you all that good advice about Regals---and seeing that one---I stand by my last post---look a little farther---mine is a 100 times cleaner and nicer than that---just goes to tell what salt water can do to a boat---ish---good luck--Steve

Thanks for looking at the pics. I posted the worst of the them. I know the boat came out of Kentucky Lakes about 4 -5 years ago and has been here on the Tn. River ever since by the guy that bought it in Ky. No salt here or Ky, but I guess it could have seen some elsewhere. Why are you saying salt... if it's the generator rust I'm curious about that as well but I don't know if it's salt or not.
Is there a sure way to tell if a boat has lived in salt water or not?

It's a 2003 that books at $5800 nada avg ( 35ft tri axle, surge, disc brake, chrome fender). it may be longer than 35'.

and the boat books for what? 23 k?..... you could get a nicer boat but for the price.....

My mind is definitely not made up, that's why I'm open for advice from you guys. I love seeing the replies...The owner has lost his home and now his boat due to health issues w/o adequate insurance. I have a nice boat but my wife would appreciate the shower and the ac, among others. I overheard a conversation about this boat and aluminum trailer and I'm looking for a reason(s) to walk away. I have looked every day for the last 2 weeks and I can't find anything close to this anywhere. If it's out there, I want to look at it.
Any and all viewpoints are welcome here. I have plenty of additional pics upon request.

My biggest concern would be corrosion you cannot see in the motors, I would guess that boat has seen salt for at least part of its life, just based on the rust levels, normally fresh water boats do not have that kind of rust, even after that many years. Motors look to be a mess, probably looking at new risers and manifolds as well as a lot of cosmetic work in the bilge. I would also have hull gone over with a fine tooth comb looking for rot, that is the last thing you want to find in a boat that big. Other than that, the interior looks like it is in good shape, for 10 grand seems ok to me, but it all depends on the real condition of the motors and drives.
