Hello all. Well, after several great years of service the floor in my 89 Rinker Captiva 206 is just starting to get soft. I'm wanting to replace but have a couple of questions.

  • Color of the carpet? Does anyone suggest a certain brand and color that will match the exisiting color in the boat (some shade of gray)
  • I'f I'm using marine grade plywood do I need to glass it before gluing down the carpet?
  • What is the thickness (1/2" or 3/4") for my year/make/model?

Any help would be appreciatd. I do have the carpentry skills and tools to accomplish this task, but need a little guidance. Especially on teh color of the carpet and brand to buy. Thanks for all of your help in advance.

Go with a light gray. Won't show dirt as much. You will need to seal the plywood (if for no other reason than it will suck up your carpet adhesive if you don't). What you seal it with depends on how long you want it to last. Glass would be best but even porch & floor paint will work. I like 5/8" minimum thickness for a deck. You can go 1/2" if you're going to glass it.
