1989 Sea Ray 220 OV

I just acquired this boat with an aluminum dual axel trailer for a song and a dance. Don't laugh, down here in South Ga it is really hot to be doing a song and dance. Anyway the reason for posting here is questions about the motor.

It has the 4.3 GM 175 and downloading info from Sea Ray shows an option of the 4.3LX 205hp and 5.7 260hp. Since I have to change the motor I needed info as to how difficult the 5.7 would be to install?

Not that hard provided you have the space....
You will have to move the front motor mounts.....
The biggest expense will be for the new drive.....
You will need to replace at least the upper for proper gearing....
Or change out the gears on the one you have......​

I appreciate the reply.

BTW is there any place where the ser nr of the engine is stamped besides on the front right side in front of the head. Part of that number is unreadable.
