Updated photos, floor is in and started to clean up throttle cables. Probably way overboard on the brass but that's from my military history.

This is where I wanted to be a year ago but what a journey it has been. Outer boxes in center section will each hold a battery and the center will be the spin on fuel filter. I like to keep all that separated. The cover plate is over the fuel tank sending unit which it didn't have before. Probably way over built and reinforced.

Still moving forward. Rustoleum with hardener went down pretty smoothly. Ready to hang motor and lay carpet.

Finally some more progress with before and after. This has truly turned into a labor of love project, I have way more $$$ into this however when it's done I will be happy that I rebuilt instead of store bought.

The instrument panel cover was so brittle and the vinyl kept peeling so I said "screw it" and made a copy using fleece instead of fiberglass to make a new one. I did fiberglass and a thin piece of plywood for strength. I used this method after finding it in some custom vehicle speaker cabinet forums.

did you actually fiberglass the fleece? Using the old piece for a mold?

I used the old piece for a mold and used a fabric spray glue to hold the fleece in place and then I mixed up a batch of resin and hardener and dabbed it on to soak the fleece and used a fiberglass roller to smooth out. I let it dry up a bit then peeled it off SLOWLY of the mold. I probably should have used the wax release but this was really an experiment. I used strips of fiberglass around the edges of the wood underneath for more structure which was probably overkill. The fleece and resin really ended up being thicker than the original piece. I will add a bottom piece this week.

so I am finally down to the last little projects to enjoy this money pit. I took it out on a test run after replacing some engine gaskets and that was an epic failure. Had to be towed back in to shore. $900. mechanic bill to do a much needed tune up was well worth it.
