Re: 1989 Ski Challenger advice

I've owned three (3) 1989 Ski Challengers. First two stayed overseas (where I had them originally shipped and now owned by my brother and by a very good friend of mine), and I still own the third one (here in the US). I never had any problems with any of the three. I've always liked the design, space, stability and specially the very low maintenance cost.

BTW, does any one have a propeller chart for these Ski Challenger - Ford 351w ?

Re: 1989 Ski Challenger advice

I have acquired a 1988 or 89 ski challenger. It has not been ran since 2002. The previous owner died and the wife wanted it gone. She said that it was not winterized properly back in 02. So far I found 5 freeze plugs popped out. The oil looks like it needed changed long ago but see no signs of water. However it is over filled with oil by a quart maybe two..Water? I took the plugs out and found no signs of water there. I can roll the engine over with a ratchet on the crank. No trouble there. Like all I am reading about this boat so far does anyone have any suggestions?

Try replacing the freeze plugs , change the oil and filter and try cranking it. if you have no way to hook water to it, put it in the water or you will burn up the impeller in the water pump that's attached to the crankshaft.
