I have an 86 fiberglass Starcraft with some soft spots in the floor. It has a great running 135 Mercury on it. I am looking for a lighter fishing boat that will handle bigger waves and keep the kids in as well. I came across an 89 ss160 with an 89 Mercury 80hp. What should I be looking for in this model boat? They are asking 2995 at a dealer. am going to offer 2500 cash. Please let me know. Thanks. OH. and if you are looking for a great motor, it's on ebay right now. {the 135 that is}

Welcome Justin, SS 160 is a great boat with lots of examples on here. If the interior is weathered real bad it has probably sat out side uncovered and may have soft floors and transom. Check closely around the fronts of the consuls under the dash, this can be a bad spot, as well as beside the seats. The transom you can crawl under the splashwell to check it on the sides next to the gunwals.
