1989 Stratos with wet form in it.
I have a 1989 Stratos with wet form in it. I notoced the boat seemed heavy and got checking and the form in it is wet. I had to drill a 7/8 hole and i can feel it is wet. WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOUT IT OR ANY THING? Or just live with it?

Thanks
David

Kinda have to undeck and dig/cut the foam out.

You might have bigger issues then wet foam .. sorry ..

Got pics :) .

I have done fixed one spot in the floor were there was a pedestal for seat there and water when in there. I removed it and the all form there and replace it all so it is dry in the middle of the floor. It is were the gas tank sit on the left side of the boat were it is water a little.. Not sure why but it is. Only reason i thought it might be wet is that sometimes it seems like the boat is unlevel.

Sounds like you have more than just wet foam. 98% of the time, when their is wet foam present, it also means the deck is rotted out, and a lot of the time the transom as well. I would drill some check holes into various places on the deck, and transom to find out if the wood is rotten. Drill 1/2" holes and look at the wood color, wet = rot, dry = solid.

An '89 with wet foam should be well rotted below deck by now, and if your boat is heavy... it means you have more than just a "little water".

Eventually you will either do the work that needs to be done or sell the boat for the value of the motor and trailer only... if you can get that much for it.

Soon your transom will be cracking from rot (if it hasn't started already) and your decking will be rotting out almost as fast as you can replace it... and there won't be anything left below deck to fasten it to.

I tried to justify leaving my foam and stringers, but after really getting into it I realized the advice here is sound. The lazy/cheap side of me was screaming to ignore it, but I ended up removing every piece of wood and foam in the hull and will feel very secure in the fact that my boat will last my lifetime when I am done. Other than the work involved, the cost isn't really that high when you compare it to replacing the deck every year due to rot.
