Serial number A136847 if this helps.

I appear to have a problem with my oiler. Had it out on the water and opened the bleeder valve and I have no oil flow. The alarm stays on as well. How do I safely disconnect the oiler and the alarm so I can mix my gas? Any help would be appreciated!

hello
remove the oil pump and inspect the drive gear.
those mercs are notorious for the drive shaft rusting while sitting then chewing off the drive gear on restart. if the drive gear is damaged you have 2 options. 1 is to leave the drive shaft out and reinstall the pump, and remove all tanks and oil pump linkages and hoses and remove the alarm module and reroute the tan temp lead. or 2 to dissasemble the power head for drive gear replacement.
but first you need to buy the merc manual and do the trouble shooting in the oil alarm section. many things can cause an oil alarm. but switch to pre-mix for any futher testing.

Thanks for the tips. Any one have a website where I can get the actual year of the engine?

Make sure if you go pre-mix that you get the plastic "dummy" drive shaft, and the metal screw plug. The screw plug needs to be screwed in where the line comeing from the main oil tank screws in the lower part of your motor. Disconnect the line and insert the screw plug. The dummy shaft will go where the old drive shaft went, it will fit over the hole where your oil pump used to be. It will also hold the gear in place so it no longer spins. Throw the old pump away! Disconnect all old oil lines, and alarm wires(they are the wires going to the pump, unscrew the harnes at the pump and cut the wires) and discard them also. Make sure you pre-mix now 50-1. It may smoke a bit more at slow speeds but it will run fine, and no more worries. You can get these two parts from your local marine for about 20 bones.
Good luck and let us know.
CU

--------------------
RUNNING THE MOTOR WHILE LISTENING TO THE HORN WILL MAKE YOU MORN!!
