1990 120 water pump oring

I replaced the water pump & have an o-ring left over. I put one between the cup & housing, one between the ss wear plate & impeller . Where would the 3rd one go? I found an old one on the floor where I removed the lower unit but I don't remember one falling out when I removed the gear case.

#73 in the parts diagram ? O-RING, Driveshaft to crankcase. Also included in Water Pump Repair Kit 395062
Fits in the groove at the top of the shaft to seal the splines

Are you sure there should be one between the impeller and the plate #64

I didn't think about the top of the shaft. I'll check that. Yes, the package insert specifically stated that an oring should be between the impeller & flat base plate. Thanks.

Newer impellers use that o-ring on the bottom.---Not always shown in the pictures.-------Instructions come with new factory parts.

O-ring fit the groove in top of drives haft below splines. Thanks.
