1990 15 hp Evinrude e15eesr won't pee at idle

Installed complete water pump kit, twice. I have to throttle up to get a tell tale stream of any sort. Strong stream at WOT only.

Have you tried cleaning out the pee hose?

When the lower unit was dropped, I hooked a test hose to the water tube and test the circulation. No blockage, strong stream from tell tale at low pressure. That's why I'm so confused when it won't pee when the motor starts and idles. Oh yea, I installed a new thermostat and seal too.

Might be worth taking another look just Incase something dislodged and clogged the line during assembly. I have also found the lines clogged with Vaseline that was used the lube the impeller. Don’t know if you went that route. Only takes a second to fish the pee hose with a small wire just to be sure.

sounds like the impeller isn't doing it's job. Key in place? Keyway undamaged?

Ripped lower watertube grommet? Hard to see rip at base if not inspected, and can cause your exact issue.. good luck!

how about water intakes to pump area...clean ??? full of crud, sand etc...
did you inspect under the water pump ?

Was this just maintenance? Was it pumping okay before you replaced the pump or did you replace it because it wasn’t pumping correctly?
