I've changed the thermostats, and the impeller. There is plenty of water coming out of the tattle tail, but it still overheats when it runs.

As soon as it gets hot, I lose the tach which I assume is the regulator getting hot.

Any ideas where to go from here?

Did you change the entire pump assembly or just the impeller? What brand parts did you use? Was it the high volume pump or the standard?

It was the impeller and wear plate. I believe it was Sierra brand and did not know that there was an option in types. I also notice that now there is insulation melted on the stator.

I would strongly suggest that you get the complete OE replacement water pump kit. Since its been hot, changing the head gaskets would be a good idea too.
