I am totally new to this this site, so everyone please be patient. Hope everyone is doing ok. I have a 1990 40hp evinrude on a 24' pontoon boat. I know, I know!! But it was a very good deal. Engine runs perfect,no problems. Is there any way to get more power out of it? I have heard about changing carb jets, timing etc. Just wondering if anyone had good advice, other than a engine swap. Thanks.

I would not mess with the jets unless it is setup for very high altitude for some mountain lake at 10,000 feet. Does the motor run up to snuff. May be it needs a good tune up or may be a decarb.

The HP you'd gain by spending a bunch of $$ would be negligible. Enjoy what ya got~
