Hey all I have the above engine and the "tilt assist" is frozen. The cable is snapped off at both ends and I am at a loss. I know my way around the tool box but this is a new animal to me. There is 3 hex plugs, can I open one to manualy put the motor down? Second question I am assuming there is a check valve threaded into the body where the cable entered. Any body have any experience with these things?

DON'T try and remove the plugs. The cylinder is under pressure.

Is the cylinder froze or is just the cable broke?

If you can get into where the cable enters the cylinder with a screw driver, you can pry up on the valve and raise the engine up.

The cylinders are non-repairable by the way.

Thanks, the engine is in the up position. I purchased a CMC tilt and trim but needed to get the engine down. I drilled out the plug slowly until it began to weep oil, and it slowly lowered....now I have to find a way to lock it down! Thanks for the imput, I think it is a crying shame that Jon/rude even alowed this system on the market and then abandoned the people who have one!

True tiller...wasn't the best ID in the world. The cylinders are still available..( I think) but at a god awful price. You might want to let it swing free just incase you find an underwater obstruction. This will let the engine swing up lessening any damage....course you'd have to becareful on the throttle in reverse. What might help is installing the regular tilt piston...not the like the one you just removed. Just the standard shock absorber type. I got one laying around the shop somewhere.
