Again here i am , back with another problem.
While pulling the kids around the lake on a tube yesterday, motor was running fine, about 3/4 throttle then all in a sudden the motor races, no thrust, then after backing out of the throttle it kicked back in. This happened 3- or 4 times and i shut the operation down. It seems the motor is slipping out of gear during operation, it does just fine, then slips out of gear, then goes back in at lower throttle. Good power and thrust, then zing.....back out of it...goes back in....what could be the problem? Thanks....jas....

Your problem is a spun-out hub. Remove the prop and take it to a prop shop to have it rehubbed.
While the prop is off, check the shaft spline for missing cogs.

Thank you....
Kinda suspected the prop, but was looking for advise before i started the dismantling.
The inside of the prop has probably been wore out, its the original prop. I will check the spline to spot for damage. Would buying a new prop be better than getting the old one rehubbed?
I was planning on buying a new one anyway...stainless.
Its weird how this happenned, everything was fine, and we beached the boat to go swimming, and the prop was in the sand, not buried , but just alittle, would this have caused this problem. First run out everything was fine till we came off the beach.
Thanks again for the advise.....jas....

This happens in the Great Soth Bay all the time. We pick up seaweed and it makes the prop slip. A quick reverse clears the prop and we continue on our way. Inspect the prop for debris. Pull the prop and make sure no monofilament is wrapped around the spine or seal.
