Wow this thread quickly turned into a Tundra hating party
Should i go with an "American" truck like the GM or Ford which are both made in MEXICO?? and have them in the repair shop 80% of their lives, or a BUILT in TEXAS USA TUNDRA thats faster stronger and better looking, and never needs to be in the shop
:joyous:

I'm assuming you left out Dodge on purpose. Seems like nobody ever wants to do that comparison with their brand X truck ;)

I left it out because it's not worthy of mentioning....

"Truck Assembly in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico"

So much for built in America..
it takes a Japanese manufacturer to build their trucks and employ americans... yet the rest bailed out... GM is in talks to move their operations to china...

Hey i think im the only one that gave you ahardtime about the truck and i put lol after it
My big issue with them is the 3 section riveted frame that flexes like a wet noodle

And i wouldnt even consider a gm from mexico after they took the production out of oshawa and put it down there.

But enough about thati was only joking with you

its a 1977 SeaRay SRV 240 Sedanbridge that the owner claims to be in tip top condition and is asking 4k.
do you gentlemen have any thoughts on this boat?

What kind of boat are you looking for anyways. Big jump between a 17' and a 24'

I'm not going to lie, i'm a complete newbie to boating but i'd like a bigger one that can handle the ocean but also be trailerable and play well in lakes.

I'm really drawn to the closed type boats (hard top?) sorry I'm not sure what classification that type of boat is but its what i'm drawn to.
From what i've been reading, this size of boat will fare well in ocean water and still be maneuverable in lakes...

I'd like to be able to use it on the pacific for fishing and cruising. also would like to put it in the local lakes (lake ming, buena vista, lake isabella, pyramid lake) It'd be my wife, parents, and kids.. and occasionally some friends that would be on board, so from 4-7...

After 40+ years of boat ownership I like the OB best in saltwater and prefer an I/O in fresh water. Especially in big freshwater that can get bad quickly like Lake Erie. Here on the SE NC coast it will remain OB and in this area only Yamaha. Back in Yankee Land it would be a Merc I/). I have had them all-- bow rider or CC never again. Need at least a 22' CC for a cramped area for a porta-potti for kids and wives. My grandsons are 11 and put some time in the cuddy. Ever try to find shade under a T-top? Nice storage too instead of everything being open and able to easily walk away.
With the motor on the Chris Craft - if the hull is solid-- $2000 or $2500 if you love it. Maybe $4000 - $4500 if the hull is solid and it runs strong. Hard pressed to get that here but in CA boats are higher.

It's frustrating.. i've been searching all the sites that sell boats, most of them are misleading..
the ones that were actually good finds were already sold...
i'm trying to keep my purchase at 5k... i'd go 6 if it were a really nice boat..

but from the looks of it, i'm guessing that i'm just trying to find a good deal at the wrong time. Might have to wait out this season and buy at the tail end... maybe then people would be looking to unload their boats at a good price....

Location plays a part in things too,,, those that must winterize and pay storage begin thinking of that next month. Some just do not ewant to pay those items another year. Others know you cannot sea trial when there is ice on the lake. I bought my last one in Dec,,, as none of those things pertain here.
