1990 Evinrude 15HP will not run after 5-10 minutes

After running at idle for a bit, engine seems to lean out and die. Keeping choke half way will help for a while, but eventually it stops running. Tried adjusting idle mixture very rich - does not seem to matter after awhile. Diassembled carb and cleaned - bowl had fuel when I disassembled it so I assume the pump is working, new gas, compression 100psi both cylinders, new spark plugs - blue spark, something interesting - the cylinders seemed lukewarm to the touch - I thought they would be warmer. Water coming out the pee tube. Thanks for any suggestions

while running it, see if the the fuel bulb goes soft
check vent and fuel lines

First a BIG WElcome!!!

Bet your problem will go away if you rebuild the carb. Your symptoms point to crud in the carb. Disassemble completely, soak overnight , blow out all passages with hight pressure compressed air (no rattle cans), put in new parts kit and slap it back together adjusting per your shop manual.

The bulb does not go soft and the vent is open. There is lots of fuel in the carb bowl when I take it off. When the carb is apart, I have sprayed all passages with carb cleaner. (That usually works in cars and lawnmowers). All gaskets looked good - very pliable and not cracked. I'll soak it in carb cleaner, and try a kit. BTW, can I soak the top plastic cover in carb cleaner? If this doesn't work, do you have any other ideas? Thanks for your help.

do not overnight soak the carbs
get the napa carb cleaner stuff, do a quick 10-15 mins soak then use the carb cleaner in the can to clean passageways, then use compressed air in the passageways also

You can soak the carbs as long as it takes to break down any varnish buildup. I've left carbs, both plastic and aluminum, in Berryman for 2 days before.
Regardless, after soaking do like Justintime says and spray through all jets and passageways with aerosol carb cleaner with the little red straw. You can visualize the main jets to see if they are clean and make sure when directing the spray into other passageways that the spray goes through and comes out the other end of the passage. Be meticulous.

The new kit should help.Sounds to me like the 'idle tube' the small hose that connects the carb to the idle nozzle is restricted or cracked.

I noticed on the top plastic cover that has the idle mixture screw, that there is another needle that is sealed in the housing. Would it help to drill out the sealant and remove the needle for housing cleaning?

Well, it now runs like a champ!!!! Found the brass tube (that the rubber hose attaches to) clogged. Had to unplug it with small wire. Soaked in carb cleaner and bingo. Thanks a million!!!!!!

Have you tried to squeeze the primer bulb to see if it will stay running?You say it idles for a bit.Is that a few seconds or a minute?

Spike....if I read Spinmasters' last post correctly, he got it fixed with the carb rebuild. Lower end of the lift tube, brass part, was plugged.

The brass tube that was clogged is part of the 'nozzle well' that the rubber idle tube attaches to. Thanks again for your help.
