I recently bought a 16 ft Bayliner Capri with a 1990 Force 50hp outboard motor. When I bought it the ignition needed to be replaced so I did that without a maintenance manual. I can get it to start but have problems keeping it running. I have tried searching for a maintenance manual but the only Force outboard maintenance manuals I find stop at the year 1989. Can anyone tell me where I can find a manual for a 1990 or if the manual for a 1989 will work? I need a wiring diagram so I can verify I've wired it correctly. I don't think I did because when I turn the key to the on position the motor starts and the starter keeps running the whole time the motor is going. I am do not have any experience with outboard motors so I don't even know if this is normal.

I have the same motor. the manual I use is SELOC part#1100 it covers all 3-150 hp Force engines. you might need a Bayliner book for that though.

The Clymer Force repair manual (1984-1999) is your best bet.

On the ignition switch terminals:

M - white or black/yellow stripe wire
M - blue or blue/black stripe wire
I - Red/blue stripe
S -Yellow or yellow/red stripe
C - green or yellow/black stripe
B - Red
