I'm looking to do the the water control valve delete on my 1990 Johnson V6 but can't find definitive info. I know what parts use, but don't know what to do with the hoses after removing the water control valve.

Does anyone have a picture that shows which hoses need to be removed and which ones need to be rerouted?

I saw that pic and am still confused because I don't know how this whole system works. This is my understanding: water flows from the water pump to the thermostat. Water then flows out a bypass valve or into the head depending on temp AND down to the water control valve. At low RPM the water control valve is closed which creates back pressure to hold tstat diaphragm down allowing it to operate based on temp. At high RPM the control valve opens which releases pressure lifting the diaphragm and forcing the tstat open.

Is this accurate?

Also when removing the water control valve, am I removing the entire assembly? Or just a valve inside the housing so that the hose coming from the Tstat will still be routed through the housing?

You cannot just remove the valve, you have to do the t-stat update with new covers and springs. I will dig thru my notes on water hose routing after its done.

Consider it done, already have the updated parts ready to go on.

Does the entire water control valve housing come off? Or just the valve, if that's possible (so the hoses would still be routed through the housing but it'd be permanently open)?

So based on my picture I will be getting rid of the red hose entirely, cutting and capping the blue hose down by the tell-tale, and attaching my water pressure gauge to the green hose by the adapter plate. Sound right? Only thing that looks off is my green hose has a Y in it whereas the green hose in your diagram is just a single hose...
