1990 johnson running too cool on one side.

Hi guys haven't posted anything here in a while because everything was working awesome.... Then my brother bought a boat. The motor works perfect, its a johnson 140 hp, j140tlece. It had some overheating issues but a new impeller fixed that, but now it has a strange problem. Running on the hose the port head gets nice and warm but the starboard side stays cold, really cold. Is it possible to have a thermostat stuck open to the point that the head feels about the same temp as the water coming out of the hose? Also can anyone tell me if this motor is equipped with s.l.o.w.?

Yes, it's quite likely you need to replace the thermostats.

And I'm pretty sure that engine does have SLOW.

Your correct, except that there's not a 140 listed for '98. My guess is that it's a typo substituting C for S (J140TLESE).
