More great info Lou. I don’t remember if it was mentioned but for the OP, Hastings.org has a ton of the info that we’re both talking about. It has everything you need to know about how to dial in the shifting system on a cobra.

Alright,I took the boat out tonight. I had carb adjusted as well and wow what a difference. With the new esa and the card adjusted and the rpms dropped it’s a whole new boat. There’s no grind but just a quick thud going into drive.

Also,I don’t wanna make a new post on this and I’m hoping Lou c see this because he has helped me with it before. I had two kids and three adults in the boat today and it was 95-100 out. Going to put tubbing spot noticed the temp gauge kinda creeping up so I used my thermo gauge on it and the hottest I could find was between the valve covers and that area and it was 180 184 mainifolds were 146. Is that okay or should I look into this agin ? Impeller was installed last fall when winterized by the mairna

Also, want to add this. If I’m doing like 25-28 it doesn’t seem to creep up but a thing over 28 it goes up. So 28-32 it seems to just go up

Sounds Like your drive is nice and healthy...congrats! On the temp issue, if you’re getting above 160 there’s definitely an issue so good catch. The first two items I would suspect are the impeller or the thermostat. Since you had a new impeller installed I would replace the thermostat or at least remove it and check that it’s the correct temp then do a crack test to verify it’s openin and closing properly.

So, I just installed a new thermostat. Agin, it’s about 95 or so out in Michigan. I have the boat on the hose and have had it running for 15 minutes. The temp gauge is just above 150 and it I use my inferred my manifolds say 96 and one riser says 102 and one is 97. The sun is beating on the one that’s higher. Right under the stat housing is 147 with my gauge. I think the was sticking

We did a lot of tubbing today with 7 people on the boat and temps 100 and the boat did good. Temps stayed 160-170 even pulling the tube. Once we slowed down it would creep up for a few minutes but come right back down

Normal, they will usually run right at 160 but when you come off plane it will creep up to about 175 and then cool back down to about 165-160....
