when you check the spark do you use a gap tester set to 7/16th inch,

have you tried a timing light on the plug wires when it skips?

i don't see that you have ascertained between it being an ignition or fuel problem yet.

Re: 1990 Rude 150 VRO skipping

Well here is an update to where the motor stands.

I rebuilt all 3 carbs, I must say that these new paper gaskets are the worst things around, I had to pull the carbs three more times to re-tork the screws because they kept leaking.

Anyway the motor has still be so so, runs good as soon as you start and go about about 5 minutes into the voyage the skipping begins.

What I fianally did last night after about a dozen trips with the motor running like poo, I pulled the 6 plugs that I just put in at the start of the year. Low and behold I found one plug still looks like it came out of the package with a quick wipe of the finger. I have checked spark before and there is spark present but it looks like a weak orange spark and not that bright bluish spark that you want to see.

Needless to say my new coil will be in tomorrow, I think after I swap that one out I should be good.

Thoughts?

I want to thank everone who has replied to this thread but I think I finally narrowed it down, the good news is all the carbs have been rebulit and all the gas lines have been changed. I guess that dosent hurt, plus it has not been done in the past 3 years that I have owned the motor, nevermind how many years the prior owner had it.

Thanks again and will keep it posted on the status.
