Hi, I am looking to buy a 1990 SUNBIRD CORSICA 17’ open low 3.0L 130 HP I/O Low hrs, original owner for $4000. I don’t know much about the SUNBIRD but the owner claims the boat is in good condition. Is this a good price??? And does it worth investing on this type of Boat? I would appreciate any advice….
Thanks.

Re: 1990 SUNBIRD

You can go to www.nada.com and try to see how much the boat worth first. If it's a good price then do a research for help on what to look for when buying a used boat. But most of all , it's depends on what are you looking to do on this boat ( skiing. fishing, cruising...), try to find a boat that fits your needs. Good luck .Tim

What kind of drive system (I/O)--OMC or Merc?
If it is an OMC make sure you can get parts and service. On any old boat be very careful, check everywhere for rotted wood and delaminated fiberglass! Get someone who knows boats to look at it for you!

I have a 1989 3.0 and it will run 40mph on a flat lake with just me and the girls. Great on fuel about 2gal per hour skiing (starting and stopping). Kinda low on power for a wake board though. Seams a little high I paid $2100 for mine last fall. They were made in Columbia S.C. and are now out of business.

Doug

Re: 1990 SUNBIRD

Hi Nersmiester, Just over a year ago I bought my '91 20ft Sunbird Corsair with the OMC 5.0L engine for $4200. Engine runs strong and hull and gel coat are in good condition (Besides typical oxidation) but I am happy with the Sunbird so far. Only problem I had to fix was the typical OMC shift cable problem (Already had the updated red cable..but needed a new one installed). Hull handles well in all types of water (choppy, etc..)Check with NADA for pricing..but it shouldnt be too far off. My Sunbird was listed for $6200 by NADA when I bought it. Good luck with the boat if you choose to purchase it.

Re: 1990 SUNBIRD

Got my Bird last May for $3,900. I believe the book was $4200-$5000. It ran great at the time, but right now it's in the shop waiting for a $500 lwr unit rebuild, and I found a great deal on the parts. Could have paid up to $1,000 for the same job.

If it doesn't shift PERFECTLY have it checked out.
