I am in the process of replacing my trim pump but i am having issues removing the original pump as there are some screws i cannot get to. I have the engine tilted all the way up and i still cant get to the screws. Cam someone help me with this? What is the best way to remove the trim pump? Thanks.

What is your engine s/n? If you reply, I can send you the service manual and parts list so you can identify which system you have.

If you would like the service manual, PM with an email address.

That s/n comes up as:

MARINER - (115 H.P. (1990M ))
Serial No: 0C289097 Model No: 71154120D

Parts Listing for model 71154120D

Mercury Parts, (4 CYLINDER)

Service manual is on the way to you. Please let me know if you got it as I sent it to .com presuming that you are in the US. You didn't specify in your last post.

Re: 1990 trimp pump removal 115 mariner

Thank you! Ok i was able to remove the old pump/motor and installed a new aftermarket pump. I tested it out before installation and it worked fine. After i installation it worked for a few seconds and then a fuse blew, the relays got hot and the motor quit working. I removed the new motor and tested it again and it did not work. I dont know if i got a defective motor or i installed it incorrectly. My question is there anything i need to do before installing the new pump? All i did was just replace it assuming it would work. Was there something else i should have done first?
