I am replacing the steering arm on a 1991 200HP Yamaha Model 200TXRP. I have read that the newer saltwater series 2 motors came with stainless steel steering arms to fix the rusting steel steering arm issue these motors are known for. I was looking at replacing the steering arm with the original part number 6E5-42510-03-EK but after thinking about I was wondering if I could replace it with the newer style to prevent the corrosion issue ever happening again. Can anybody recommend a part number? I was looking at 2005+ 200hp models and there is several models all with different steering arm part numbers and I found the following part numbers 69J-42510-00-8D, 68F-42510-B0-8D, 6E5-42510-B1-8D, 66K-42510-01-8D, 68F-42510-A0-8D, and 68F-42510-B0-8D. Will any of these fit? Are they all interchangeable?

I don't know of any Yamaha that uses stainless steel in the manufacture of the steering arm.

If you have a 200TXRP then the part number is 6E5-42510-23-EK. The -23 has been changed to the -25 configuration. 6E5-42510-25-EK.

Any steering arm that has a different prefix (6E5 in your case) more than likely will be completely different from another steering arm that has a different prefix (say 69J which is for a four stroke). The chances of there being interchangeability is nil.

Ok so are you saying that if it starts off with "6E5-42510" then it will be interchangeable?
