1991 48SPL Tilt Assist

Hi all,,

I am going to look at a 1991 48SPL and the owner says there is a problem with lift assist device. He says it is either a broken cable or control lever. I have looked through several postings and it seems as if this may either be an easy fix or a nightmare. Does anyone have any suggestions for me when I check out the motor???

If it's a cable or a control lever it may be worth the fix. But if it's the lift unit itself it's questionable. That sells for $750.00. To rich for my blood. JMO.

If it is the lift assist can that be removed and the motor run that way?

Yes, but you'll have find a way to lock it down when you put the mtr in reverse.
