I need some help with a boat I just bought. Every now and then I get spark and it will start but only run for a few seconds. Most of the time there is no spark at all. I took the flywheel off and two magnets and there were two loose magnets. I cleaned them up and epoxied them back in place on the flywheel. I thought this would have solved my problem but I soon found out it did not. I put it back together and it fired right up, ran for 10 seconds and shut off again. I got an occasional spark directly after that but silence ever since. Any Ideas will help greatly.

could be intermitting coils which means the coils are firing at times and times there not

It will not be the coils. Coils either work or they don't. Are you sure that the safety/emergency shut off switch up front by the ignition switch, has the clip all of the way on/making good contact? I have seen these work themselves halfway off and intermittently kill the motor. If that is not it, it is most likely a bad/corroded ground(s) OR the stator. Check/clean all ground wires in your electrical system first if the safety shut off is okay.

I disconected the kill switch and eliminated it from the system. I also disconected it from the ignition switch to make sure it wasn't grounding it's self out at the switch, still no spark

Did you check the grounds for all of the electrical components?

Ohms test the trigger & stator if the grounds are okay.
