Since owning my boat for the last few years I've started noticing and repairing all of the things that it seems to be missing. The carburator's mechanical advance was broken, there is an inline clear fuel filter from Canadian Tire, no water separator, the clear line running from the carb back to the fuel pump is missing... I'm curious if anything else should be added or is missing

Mod EDIT: Solicitation removed

Probably a terminology difference but I don't know what this is on a carb. Have a pic or more explanation?

The prior owner replaced the fuel pump with one from a car, it needs to be replaced with a marine version

The fuel pump has the filter on the bottom so it is marine.

Another question. I read a lot about people testing an alarm sound when the key is in and not turned or something like that? I don't ever hear any buzzing or beeping or any alarms.

A high idle screw is NOT used on a Mercruiser. You can set the throttle with the throttle control. If you were to have a choke activated high idle, then you would be likely to scatter the gears if the throttle was accidentally put into gear while the high idle was in effect. - There is no high idle screw on a Mercruiser carburetor.

Sorry about that. I was talking about the electric choke.

Maybe your alarm beeper/buzzer has been disconnected. Its a small thing under the helm and has 2 wires which should be connected to it. One wire is purple (ignition) and the other is Tan/Blue (goes to lube bottle, temp switch, and oil pressure switch
