Re: 1991 Bayliner Capri, 90hp force. No power, overheating, and Bogs out?
today we took it to neu's hardware store and my buddy helped us tap a larger hole and i put a 7 mm x 1mm screw in with teflon tape. we drove around all day. After we got done we checked and no water or dripping discolored water so its looks to be sealed. Im wondering why it did this and what the bolt was for. it wasnt a drain plug. its next to it on the lower unit though. i looked it up and it says its called a pin screw or something. well we drove it and it was fine except i still nedd to adjust the shifter and gears or something. it wasnt going in gear and then when we put it in gear and tried to go in reverse it would still go forward pulling the shifter backward. I had to turn the engine off and repeatedly pull the shifter from nuetral to reverse in a fast motion then put it back in nuetral and start it then it will start in reverse. Also id do the same to get it back into forward drive. lol its weird. i think i just need to fine tune the adjustments. if i cant get it i will need to take the lower unit apart and inspect it for problems. new seals and gaskets or whatever. also heres a tip if you gun the engine in reverse for too long it overheats. i suspct this to be because the impellar doesnt suck water in that direction or something like that. we didnt overheat bad but the alrm went off. well anyway ill keep you informed
