Good looking job,,, I agree with proshade, hope you didn't drill any extra holes. And hope you waxed the bolts good too....makes them alot easier to remove once it's all cured out.

yes all the holes I used are for the motor and drains for live wells and existing things no new ones :) Tomorrow I was going to fill the gaps around the transom and I have a quart of the bondo crud filler think it would be ok to use for that purpose I know its not good for alot of things but just wanted to get rid of it .

I wouldn't use the bondo myself, there are some difference of opinion on here about that. I would mix up a peanut butter mix of resin and cab o sil, and use it to fill in.

Ok next question I did a search first and got mixed answers , Im using 435 poly un-waxed from us composites so between layups say a couple of days do i need to sand first ? temps are back in the 30s and suposed to be 50 again mid week so ill be able to get the shop to 70 or so again. Thanks.... William

My shop stays at 72 (a little higher if I'm pouring foam) all winter so I've never run into cold temps glassing....Lets hope Ondarver, Oops, or YD chimes in here on this one. Under normal conditions you don't need to sand between coats with unwaxed poly.

Re: 1991 cajun 162zw(operation make it float)

well just some new pics , got the under side of the deck done and will try to get it installed this weekend but I will have to wait to glass it in,resin from us composites is on its way. Btw home depot resin with wax is quite a bit different to work with I used it on the under side of the deck because I was running low on the 435 resin . Its nice to be moving forward on this project and I so appreciate all of the help on this site :DDSC_0347 (800x536).jpgDSC_0349 (800x536).jpg

yes they were there but I did extend them to run along the stringer a little further than the original no reason other than maybe a little stronger and they were the left over pieces from the transom

Nothing wrong with that.....what weight glass (fabric) did you use to tab everything in, and how many layers?

I used 1 layer of 1.5oz csm and 2 layers of 1708 , it's definitely alot stronger than the original which was what looked like just 1 thin layer of csm

The two layers of 1708 is plenty.....should be there for years to come.

Thanks guys also was wondering if I should drill some drain holes under the deck by the transom just in case water did get in between the stringers ? Also I am using the foam board under the deck and not the pour in kind

Re: 1991 cajun 162zw(operation make it float)

Some drain holes are fine......I use the pour in expandable foam, but many have used the sheets, either is fine. Some will argue the foam isn't needed at all, but it's a CC requirement for smaller crafts. You should read some other threads, things like pool noodles, ping pong balls, etc have been used for floatation. So needless to say whatever you want to use is fine.
