Are there any wires going to the control unit for temp/oil pressure?
Are there any coming off the engine somewhere I can connect to?

its a 1991 evenrude 200hp v6 2 stroke.

Thanks
Dave

Why don't you just described your issues. Lay them out cleanly and clearly. And then we can address them.

But yes. There are wires for temperature. There are also wires for no oil condition. Wires for low oil. Possibly wires for a fuel restriction. It's all sets off an alarm of one sort or another. Please describe the alarm you are getting. Is it a solid tone, a rapid beep, or a beep every 20 seconds or so?

No problems that I know of.

I'm hooking it up to a dashboard on a bayliner, and I have oil pressure, (old 4 stroke boat), temp, tach, and fuel gauges.
Need to know where to run the wires to the motor. but all the printouts don't have temp wires, just tach.

Your motor doesn't have oil in it, so there's no oil pressure to read. They don't typically have a temp sensor that reads out on the dash gauge, just a high temp switch that sets off an alarm if the temp goes over a certain level.

You must be converting from an I/O to OB.

Two gauges I'd consider important on that outboard: add a temp sender to measure powerhead temps. Also, add a water pressure gauge that monitors water pressure in the the powerhead.

Yeah, figured there was no oil pressure sender. Thought there might be a water temp sender, but I guess thats only if the outboard has a thermostat.

emdsapmgr - Any idea where I'd install this temp sender? I'm assuming I'll need a boat specific one.. or do I just tap a hole, and put in a car one?

ondarvr - yep. I/O to OB

How you mount the marine temp sender depends on how your block is setup. On the older blocks, there is no provision for a sender, so you have to make a mount. Sort of a "Z" bracket that will hold the tip of the sender against the head. No drilling needed. All my old blocks used this handmade bracket and it works well. Some of the later blocks have a drilled hole in the head as a provision to accept a temp sender. The bottom of the hole is flat so that the sender face contacts the head once screwed in.

This is a typical marine temp sender: 21629_L1[1].jpg This sender is a taller one and uses the Z bracket. Others are shorter and squat and fit in the drilled factory hole in the head.
