Hello,

I have a boat with a evinrude-60HP-VRO motor of 1991,
and this summer it had a failure.
Once it was working fine during 3 - 5 minutes, there
were 3 or 4 partial motor failures. In this moment, if
we made the motor working in low speed, the motor is
still working. If we made the motor working in high
speed, finally the motor get stopped.
Once the motor has been stopped (break down), it is
difficult to start it again in spite of having the
pear full of fuel manually. Nevertheless, if we wait
some minutes after the failure, there is easier to
start again the motor.

The refrigeration seems to be OK (there is exit of
water), and furthermore, the temperature of the motor
seems to be normal, because when the failure appears,
there is possible to touch the cover of the thermostat
with the hand without burning.
A local boat mechanic has dismount and cleaned the
three carburetor (they were fine), and the VRO but he
had not found nothing wrong which could cause the
failure. In spite of this, he had disable the VRO,
disconnecting the electric system of VRO and the oil
inlet, and taking directly fuel mixed with 2%.
Doing it, the mechanic though that the problem will be
solved, but it the FAILURE IS STILL THE SAME
I realized that immediately after start the motor in
cool, the motor works correctly, and after 3-5
minutes, there is the failure. Could be possible that
the motor temperature has any influence? Maybe the
fuel pump has a failure because of wrong working of
impulse fuel system?
Anybody know what could be the cause?
The local boat mechanic insists that reason could be
of VRO system, and in his opinion it has to be
changed. Anybody know the price of this material and how to obtain it?

Thanks for your reply.
