Not a big deal at all, simply drive an awl into it, pop it out. On reinstall, place the new plug in place, and I use a socket extension and hammer to rap the top of it, flattening the concave plug sealing the hole.
Hardest part first time will be remembering where everything goes, lol.
I would take notes/pics, and put bolts back where they belong as you go. Soak it as mentioned, removing all rubber parts, then I run carb cleaner in a can through it, was with warm water, then air dry with a compressor. Make sure all the passages are clean and free of debris/varnish. It sure beats cleaning the house ")
