Hello again I have a 1991 Force 150 In the past this motor has been very reliable, but recentley It has become a real pain in the @#% It has 141lbs in all 5 cyl. and is a clean motor but not has electrical problems. Is this common with these motors to fall apart. I have the opportunity to purchase a parts motor for $250 but how much more should I do or should I give up and buy a Yamaha or Merc etc... Is the motor worth salvage or will it continue to fall apart faster than I can fix it Thanks Brad :'(

Those 5 cyl motors weren't very reliable. The early 91A's with the prestolite ignition had trouble with the cd modules. The 91B's and later had the thunderbolt ignition and had trouble with the stators.

If you can get a parts motor with good electronics, I'd go for it.
You aren't going to get anything for it if you try to sell it, so you might as well try to get all you can out of it.
