I'm hoping somebody can help with this problem.

1. My motor cruises all day at 3700 - 4100 but once I go above this, it quits. Then I start it again and go through the cycle again. Could it be the VRO? Just changed the plugs, rebuilt the carbs and found one of the high speed jets was .001 over in size. Compression is 120psi all 3 cylinders. Timing is right on at low rpms.

2. Before and after my link and sync, it is rough idling and sometimes very hard to start. I've tried everything the Seloc manual states short of checking the stators and power packs.

Hellppp!

Re: 1991 Johnson 70 VRO

Did you try manually pumping the fuel primer bulb or intermittedly pushing in on the key primer before engine falls off.Pumping the bulb will help isolate a fuel pump issue and the key primer can help isolate a carburetor issue.Might also want to make sure that the timer base under the flywheel will advance all the way to it's wide open throttle position stop and travel smoothly and unrestricted. Are the sparkplugs the recommended Champion plugs ? Also, insure that the fuel tank is vented properly and the primer bulb is not colapsing during operation at higher rpms.
