Was wondering if it can be done. The wiring that is. I know that the wire colors are different. My pops bought a center console boat and I bought his boat. Which has side controls. Can the wiring harness be switched? The center console has seperate start switch from the binnicle control were the side control has it in the control. They both seem to have the same amount of wires in the harness. Thanks.

The electrical part is the 'easy' one, just to identify the respective colors of the different wires. However you may not use the OMC cables on the Yamaha. You will have to replace them with C5 cables and OMC adapters in the binacle end and Yamaha connectors in the engine end.

Yamaha also uses push-to-open the throttle and pull-to open the throttle so that may be a factor as well. And it doesn't stop there. Control boxes are designed with a certain amount of throw -- meaning the cables move a specific distance. That may not be the same either between the two and you cannot adjust for that.

Thanks for the info. Looks like new controls for both of us.
