1991 mercury black max 150

Hello I got a 91 Mercury 150 black max serial 0D081154. The stator on my motor part number 398-9873a4 is nla but stator 398-5464a35 is available. Both are 16 amp are they interchangeable? I need to replace mine. Thanks

mostly jus superseded production numbers.. tha 66 is from high performance... will turn a higher rpm without any interruptions...

but even tha production numbers will turn up way more than most boaters will ever see.....

Hello, I have a Merc 75hp 2 stroke with the Red Stator of Death. Why is it called that? Not sure the model of Merc Engine but I believe it's 1991 -1993 what I can find. My main concern is the Black adapter inline after the stator. [h=1]What is the sole purpose of 834949a3 can I check its reliability? I get no spark, but my Ohms are spot on from the stator. Id appreciate any answers.[/h]
