Keep the boat in the water. This weekend I raised the drive to check my zincs. After lowering it I started up and put into reverse. The drive tilted up and out of the water. The "latch" that holds it down did not latch. Is there a trick to resetting it? I know there are 2 pawls that latch onto some sort of bar. Is the drive always "latched" or just when in reverse. I have looked in the clymers manual and it appears the latches are hooked to the shifter mechanism. Looking for advice to get me moving. Thanks

I have been curing this problem for many years. In order to help you I need to send you a FAX showing this lock mechanism. It is different from most others. It has a centering device to help line it up. If this is bent you have problems. I will send you a blown up view of the reverse lock if you can provide a FAX number. Your Clymers book will not show this type of lock. If you want to call me at
1-800-949-2189 I can give you more details. You can either call me a FAX number or send it to
jmontgom@gulftel.com
