I have a timer base and need to install, after removing flywheel is this going to be very complicated where I should take to a shop for a 2 week wait or can it be replaced with regular tools, how about setting timing and such as other small details as needed. I do not have a manual at present. Any help appreciated Dewley

Dewley, if you've never done it before, you're going to be ahead having a marine shop do it. Just getting the flywheel off, if you haven't before, can cause big damage. You would need at minimum a special tool to hold the flywheel to remove the nut and a flywheel (harmonic balancer) puller to get it off. After that, it gets somewhat easier, except you will also need a 1/2" drive torque wrench to properly install the flywheel. Other than that, it's mainly common tools and techniques. A shop manual might be nice also, especially if you haven't done this before.<br />Jim

If you change the timer, check upper crankshaft bearing housing bolts while the timer is off. Loctite on timer screws and stator screws. Timing check at full throttle when finished.
