I have a 1992 Johnson 140.. _sometimes on excelleration it doesn't hit on all four .then it will catch up. Sometimes when at cruising speed it will begin to loose rpm and skip ...if i back off to 4K rpm it smooths out..then I can put the juice to it and it will go to 5200 just fine..the skipping comes and goes...put in new fuel filter..new plugs.. it has a water/fuel separator...I drained and re primed it..when it starts skipping..tried pushing in the choke to see if it was starving for fuel...it just wanted to cut out...as it should..help...thanks

well I guess I stumped the elders...no one wants to touch this one...I'll just take to my local "stealer" and put in the tank....thanks anyway

If only when warm then it could be electrical. Being it occurs at high speed could be vibration knocking something loose. First I would check all of the grounds for cleanliness and tightness (especially the coils and powerpack). Next I would run at night with cover off and look for sparking. It could be so many things that i would eliminate the easiest and cheapist first.
