1992 15 hp running like crap

1992 15 hp .won't idle,won't go full throttle.removed carb checked ,looks good,clean no wear,new plugs.Read about the top piece of carb cracking or warping.I can't see any cracks or warping ,Should I change that piece anyway.What else should I check?

did you clean the carb....or just assumed that it is clean because it looks clean? have you checked out leeroys ramblings.....tons of great info there!!

Carb was really clean,needle looked good,did check out leroy rambling,that is where I saw the think about the top of the carb(cracking,warping).Going to order the retrofit for the carb,hopefully this will help.It also sounds kinda loud,maybe there is a issue with the exhaust affecting the way it is running?Going to check out leeroys again.hopefully Ill see something I missed.Thanks.

sounds kinda loud? is this something you have noticed a change in recently, or you think the motor is louder than it should be? maybe try running with the cowl off.....could be an exhaust leak starving it for air??

Did you check your cam follower sleeve (sleeve over the rollier), if it break your link and synk is off

my guess is the carb. that plastic peice of poo. the covers are known to wrap or crack causing off idle issues. i have a spare carb off a 89, that i dont know why wont work. it looks fine, but runs like crap. i swapped the carb off a 82, and like magic it runs like a champ.
