Capt..... The later model V/6 OMC engines such as you have, had their compression factors lowered to compensate for the poor quality gasoline that has been on the market. Also, many of the V/6 engines would show a difference, pertaining to compression, on the port bank as compared to the starboard bank.<br /><br />Frankly I never undrstood this and have inquired about it from a couple OMC reps. I received a answer that the difference resulted due to a crankshaft design (still don't understand it). However, as the saying goes, that's the nature of the beast. <br /><br />Bottom line is that your readings are pretty well within specifications.<br /><br />NOTE.... A word of advice, DO NOT open the throttle on any outboard engine when in neutral. You could very well encounter a runaway engine. In which case, you could have a connecting rod come flying through the side of that crankcase with the force of a grenade! (Not a good idea.)
