Igot lucky today.Went to take the boat out today and would barley turn over, then would not turn over at all.at least it happened at the dock.
Battery is or was fully charged, tried spare battery, same thing.
Removed engine cover and touched the starter..WOW was it hot!
Brought boat home and removed starter.Brushes looked ok i guess, the motor had a burnt smell.
Whats next?

Re: 1992 150hp force starter

Mine did the same thing, also before it turned over really slow plus there was a delay once a turn the keys it didn't turn over right away, I had it rebuilt, it was the bushing but it only lasted 1 year, same thing just happened to me last weekend, you were lucky, mine went out in the bay, got pulled in and spent the best 159.00 dollars of my life, bought a new starter, mine engine was a 92/120hp force, starts up better than new. I suggest getting a new 1, not rebuilt!
