I have a 1992 V-8 evinrude and am having a carb problem. The engine runs great but dribbles fuel from the air box at low speeds and idle. As it turns out its coming from the vent on the lowest port side carburetor. I assume its the vent, its a port in the bowl just below the gasket. I was assuming it was the needle and seat, so I drained the bowl and tapped on it. All seemed fine but it started again. Am I on the right track? Also, if this port is in fact the vent, how do they not drain when the engine is tilted? I was also thinking there could be an underlying fuel problem since its the lowest carb? As far as the set up, the fuel is in a hull tank, is primed with a holley electric pump thjat I rigged up with a check valve similar to how the factory pump would have worked. The engine always ran a bit smokey, but in my mind, it tells me the VRO is working. Any help would be appreciated.
