Hi guys, new to the forum and new owner of a 1992 Evinrude 6hp E6RENM. After replacing all the important stuff and getting it up and running for the first time, the rewind starter housing broke off right where the rope handle anchor is. I have done a lot of searching and found that the housing is no longer in production and is quite hard/impossible to find. Wanted to check in and see if anyone might know of another year/engine that has a housing that would be compatible or what other options I have? Thanks in advance.

I’m in south Florida. I was thinking about plastic welding it but wasn’t too confident that it would hold with how thin the plastic is.

By any chance does anyone know if the 9.9 rewind starter housing would work? Looking at pictures and diagrams it looks incredibly similar but I’m not sure if there’s a size difference.

Part # for 9.9 / 15 HP only shows it fitting the 9.9 / 15 HP from 93 to end of production.

Wasn't sure if that was the part or not...If it is...then it could be repaired I think. Epoxy, and some braces screwed in to help hold position and some reinforcement at the joints. Not pretty, but could be done for sure. The motor is new enough that won't find much in scrap heaps yet....

I went ahead and put it back together with the epoxy and it seems to be holding up just fine so far. I was going to reinforce it with some braces but it doesn’t seem to be showing any flex or signs of weakness at the joint so I’m tempted to just let it be. Thanks for the help guys.
