1992 crossflow to looper ????????

i have a thread started on my '86 140, i am wondering if i pull the powerhead off the 140, will it fit on a 1992 v-4 crossflow mid-section??

You will have to use the intermediate plate and exhaust megaphone for that to happen, but yes, it can be done.

my 140 has a 3" hole cut in the mid section, too loud.

i am going to use a '96 115 midsection, so far, everything has fit perfect.

my next question is, my motor is an '86, i have a 1990 140 evinrude for parts, and i want to put the quickstart on my '86, if i use all of the electronics off of the 1990, will they work on my 1986?? stator, timer, powerpack, temp sensors, and main wiring harness.

it all will work, but the question is; Why?

The only advantage to the newer style is the S.L.O.W. system, but if you get a bad heat switch, you will be cussing.

I don't think you need to change the wire harness, just the stator, timer, temp senders and pack.

i am using the 90hp midsecion, can't find any #'s on my 140 powerhead??

Title? you have a title on motors there?

Guess you would have to use whatever serial # is on the midsection.
Or tak the clamp bracket with the serial number from the original looper and put it on the new mid.

I did not know there was such a thing as titles on outboards. In Canada it is just the trailer and boat that you get paperwork for.

I always register my boats and trailers, but to tell you the truth, most dont up here. The last boat I bought I traced through about 10 owners to the mid 80s when it was last registered. What a pain. As far as motors, bill of sale as stated.
